“Mentoring has helped me to be a bit more settled in school because I know I have someone to talk to now” Year 9 pupil, March 2013

Mentoring has been successfully running in Leytonstone school since January 2013 and has the full support of the senior leadership team. Our lead teacher at Leytonstone School is Mr. Smith, Assistant Headteacher.

The mentors work primarily with year nine students who are referred by their teachers as benefitting from 1 to 1 support. There are also students who self-refer to this programme. Each mentoring session is different but some of the things the mentors help students with include: building their confidence, setting goals, addressing behaviour concerns and talking through any personal issues.
